After 30+ years in the computer business I grew tired of the corporate environment and decided to quit….which I did, but I did not decide to retire. After taking a couple of years off to work on my golf game and catch up on about 10 years of delayed house maintenance, an event occurred that caused me to found Odor Medic LLC. I had always thought about having my own business and had lots of ideas (like most people) but never got serious enough about any of them to go beyond the conceptual stage. Then one of our two cats got a bladder infection and peed on the carpet in our family room….the room where I spend a lot of time. 

We tried all of the normal things that my residential customers always tell me about, pouring the pet store’s “Miracle” solution on it, home remedies, etc. and nothing worked. Then we spent about $300 on the local carpet cleaner/odor remover service, which also was wasted time and money. So, being an analytical (degrees in Math and Physics) and a do-it-your-selfer to a fault I started to research the problem and to make a long story shorter, I discovered a class of industrial strength products that were safe to use and not available in any store. So using my skills as a salesman/sales manager I contacted about 10 companies and by hook or crook acquired samples to test. I found two that were outstanding and so much better than the others that they incented me to found Odor Medic.

There was one other factor that drove this decision and that involved my youngest son who was just about to graduate from college. I didn’t want him going into a corporate environment that he wasn’t really prepared for. So, I developed a business plan and we started Odor Medic LLC as one of about three odor elimination services in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul Minnesota. It took us about a year to figure out what we were doing, but we developed treatments for the most common problems that worked and were reasonably priced. Most of our local business centers around pet problems (dog and cat urine), nicotine in residences and vehicles, and cooking odors from spices like curry. But we also fix odor problems caused by insecticides, mothballs, refrigerators and freezers that lose power, sewer odors, etc. etc.

Since then we have not looked back, the service side of our business continues to grow as we work with property management companies, real estate agents, car dealers, businesses, and private residences. Over three years ago we brought our website online and have been doing business worldwide with a few thousand satisfied customers. The Internet is a wonderful thing!

So we are a family owned business that has 100% customer satisfaction as our primary objective. We have enough large corporate business experience that we know how to run a professional organization, but with the old-fashioned idea that the customer comes first and deserves prompt communication, quality products, and a high level of service that is generally missing from most companies today.
